Ludwig Waltimyer
Ludwig, late of Germany via Rotterdam, disembarked from the 'Phoenix' at Baltimore,
2 Nov 1752, with sons David and George.

Tradition has it that his wife died at sea. He then married Juliana Dorothea in
1753, son Phillip born in 1754.

Served in the Revolutionary War at age 77. His big stone house (still standing
in 1942) was two blocks from the seat of the Continental Congress at York during
the winter of 1777-78 when Howe and his British army occupied Philidelphia.
The area was a rendezvous for new recruits and a training ground for the Continental
Army, also it became a prison base for British and Hessian prisoners. Ludwig was a
member of the York County Associators and Militia, Upper District (h) Prison Guard.
He "rode hard on those enemy prisoners during the struggle for independence."

The following is a direct quote from Huntsman Annals:
"His will, dated May 21, 1778, and recorded in the Registrar's Office of York County
Will Book F page 77, provides, after a life estate in his house property to his wife,
as follows:
'And from and after the decease of my beloved wife Anna Margarita I give and devise
all that my above massuage of tenement and lot of ground with appertenances unto my
three sons, David, George and Phillup Waldimyer.' (Note German spelling.)
The will was probated January 14, 1783, and allowing a few days for burial, he probably
died Jan 10, 1783."
